Introduction
OpenBox is simple and lightweight Window Manager, providing a graphical desktop environment in an interactive session on Viper.
- Select Viper OpenBox Desktop
- Select the number of hours you want your session to run for
- Click Launch
- The session will initially be queued, but if resource is available will shortly be marked as running. Depending on your connection, choose an appropriate Compression (lower the better) and Image Quality (higher the better)
- Click Launch Viper OpenBox Desktop
Initially you will see a grey screen, but if you right click a menu will appear:
- Viper Interactive - This will provide a standard terminal on the compute node running your desktop interactive session
- Firefox - Opens Firefox web browser
- Reconfigure - Resets the menu (currently doesn't do anything)
- Exit - Terminates your desktop interactive session (requires confirmation)
